Home Hill will take on a Brazilian carnival theme when the Queensland Country Bank Home Hill Harvest Festival and Grand Parade returns on Saturday, 7th November.

The annual event, a Burdekin tradition since 1963, will feature colourful floats, live entertainment, food stalls, carnival rides and family activities throughout the afternoon and evening.

‍

This year’s theme, Rio Carnivale, will bring a Brazilian-inspired flavour to the celebrations, with the street party beginning at Home Hill’s Watsons Green and Anzac Park from 3pm.

The grand parade will begin at 5pm, featuring floats, community groups, local organisations and businesses making their way down Main Street.

‍

The newly crowned 2026 Harvest Festival Queen will also appear in the parade following the Rotary Gala Ball on Friday night.

Visitors will have a range of food options, including American-style barbecue ribs, pulled pork, burgers, Asian cuisine, loaded fries, potato twisters, cinnamon doughnuts, ice cream and handmade sweets.

Live entertainment will include Sneaky Beats and the Burdekin and Thuringowa Brass bands, while carnival rides and attractions will cater to a range of ages.

Younger festivalgoers can also take part in activities at the PCYC games trailer.

‍

Harvest Festival secretary Carlene Muilwyk said the festival will give an opportunity for residents, families and visitors to come together while supporting local organisations and businesses.

“The Harvest Festival is about much more than one day of celebrations. It's about bringing our community together, supporting local organisations and continuing a tradition that has been part of Home Hill for more than 60 years,” she said.

‍

“The committee is looking forward to seeing the streets of Home Hill filled with colour, excitement and community spirit once again.”

The event is supported by naming rights sponsor Queensland Country Bank, alongside platinum sponsors Carmichael Ford, Burdekin Shire Council and Triple M, as well as other sponsors, volunteers and community groups.

‍

The street party begins at 3pm on Saturday, 7th November, with the grand parade scheduled for 5pm in Home Hill.
