It was all about Burdekin women last Friday, with a special luncheon in Ayr marking the International Day of Rural Women.
‘Beyond the Gate’, a Community Bank Home Hill and Ayr endeavour, welcomed roughly 120 attendees to Populins Hall to celebrate rural women and their contributions to their communities.

Headlined by guest speaker Tash Johnson and an ‘On the Couch’ panel session, the event encouraged rural women to listen and engage in raw, intimate conversations about their experiences.

“There is nothing stronger than a group of women who empower each other,” said Community Bank Home Hill and Ayr Branch Manager Sally Smith.

“I think what resonated the most was having those guest speakers talk about life in general—how we cope as women in business, running our families, and the daily struggles we all have.
“It’s just about supporting each other and letting each other know that we’re not alone.”

Ms Smith particularly praised Ms Johnson’s keynote. Community Bank also presented a $3,000 donation to Farm Angels, a charity co-founded by Ms Johnson that provides financial and practical support to farming families affected by natural disasters.

The event was sponsored by Rural Quip, Keir Steele Waldon Lawyers, Nutrien Ag Solutions and Community Bank.
