The Ayr Pony and Hack Club hosted a competitive field of almost 100 nominations across its Open Showjumping and Open Gymkhana events on 12th and 13th September.
The two-day event drew competitors from as far as Port Douglas, Ingham, Charters Towers, Proserpine and Bowen, with riders ranging in age from four to 65-plus.
Saturday’s Open Showjumping attracted 49 competitors, with classes beginning at cross rails before progressing to jumps of up to one metre.
The gymkhana attracted 45 nominations across a range of age groups and events, from under-seven and led riders through to older children and adults.
Lacey Maitland was crowned Overall Champion at the end of Sunday’s competition, with Archer Carr finishing as Runner-Up.
April Tanner and Alexis Lydom received Best Presented honours for their respective horses, Rosie and Rayner Park Piping Hot.
Competitors, families and supporters gathered for a dinner following Saturday’s competition, with visitors who travelled for the event also camping locally.
The club will now look towards its 2027 program, with new members and further events on the horizon.
