The future of the Home Hill Community Sports Club is looking bright, with three enthusiastic school-age bowlers regularly taking on the club’s senior members during Wednesday night social bowls.
Kalen, Connor and Lincoln are proving lawn bowls is a sport for all ages. Like many young people, they enjoy a variety of activities outside the bowling green. Kalen enjoys sailing and fishing, Connor is involved in sailing and touch football, while Lincoln is an enthusiastic soccer player. Their involvement demonstrates lawn bowls complements other sports rather than replacing them.
Junior players are the future of the sport, with opportunities to learn new skills, make friends and enjoy healthy competition in a welcoming environment.
No experience or equipment is needed, with bowls provided free of charge. Wednesday evenings begin with a barbecue at 5.30pm, followed by play from 6pm to approximately 8pm, making it an ideal family activity.

Thursday afternoon attracted another strong turnout, with visitors Bruce Ross from Yeppoon, Mark Pierce from Forster, NSW, Peter and Richard Saur from Brisbane, along with local support from Allan Garioch of Brandon. Members also acknowledged the continued support of regular southern visitors.
Seven games were played, comprising two pairs and five triples. John Hobson, Jocelyn Defranciscis and Steve Mutu recorded a convincing win over Joe Linton, Nev Webb and Bob Pickard, while Alex Bojack, Bruce McCallum and Judy Elton defeated Bruce Ross, Peter Sower and Janet Arthur in a close contest.
Phil Marsden, Rob Darr and Paul Vass secured a win over Gary Nosworthey, Margaret Linton and Terry Feakes, while Glenn Berryman and Margaret Chapman claimed victory over Allan Garioch and Chris Holden in the first pairs game. Keith Roser, Dino Poli and Sue Taylor defeated Jeff Taylor, Betty Webb and Dean Taylor, giving Sue bragging rights over husband Dean.
Trevor Elton and Gordon Braid won the second pairs game against Jo Roser and Mark Pierce, while Mick McCloskey, Les Hoey and Katherina Stucker defeated Hugh Montgomery, Richard Sower and Maureen Marsden.
Random rink winners for the afternoon were John Hobson, Jocelyn Defranciscis and Steve Mutu.
The raffle prize of a breakfast tray was won by visitor Mark Pierce, while Jeff Taylor claimed the second prize of garden produce.

Saturday afternoon saw a continuation of competitive and social bowls, with Mick McCloskey and Alex Bojack defeating Scott Taylor and Paul Vass in a thrilling encounter. McCloskey and Bojack led for most of the game before Taylor and Vass fought back on the sixteenth end, eventually taking the win with four shots on the final end. Social bowls included one pairs game and one triples game.
