The series was secured by the State Government as part of its push to position Queensland as Australia’s events capital, with the matches also featuring public training sessions, fan engagement activities and local club programs.
Minister for Tourism Andrew Powell said the strong ticket demand showed Queensland had the capacity to attract world-class events.
"When we bring world-class events to Queensland, we bring the fans with them—and that’s great news for local businesses, local jobs and local communities,” Minister Powell said.
"People aren’t just coming to watch a game—they’re staying in our hotels, eating in our restaurants, visiting our attractions and spending money in our communities."
Football Australia CEO Martin Kugeler said the matches would provide the first opportunity for Australians to welcome back the CommBank Socceroos following their FIFA World Cup 2026 campaign.
“The September international matches against Brazil—one of the most exciting and iconic national teams—are crucial for Head Coach Tony Popovic and the Socceroos, with the AFC Asian Cup 2027 kicking off less than four months later,” Mr Kugeler said.
“Demand for tickets for the Brazil matches has been very strong and we encourage Australian football fans to join us in cheering on our team as Australia’s newest heroes inspire the next generation in this terrific match series in Townsville and Brisbane.”
