Junior Ambassadors Raise $828 For Rescue Animals

Two Burdekin Water Festival Junior Ambassadors have turned sausages, raffle tickets and community spirit into much-needed support for vulnerable animals, raising hundreds for Bowen and Collinsville Pet Rescue last Saturday.

Held outside Harvey Norman and proudly supported by Burdekin Christian College, Judah and Mia's sausage sizzle attracted a steady stream of locals eager to enjoy lunch while backing a worthy cause.

Alongside sausage sandwiches, drinks and raffle tickets, the event also accepted donations of pet food to help care for foster dogs and cats through Bowen and Collinsville Pet Rescue.

By the end of the day, the community had helped the Burdekin Christian College students raise $828 for the rescue organisation, while also donating pet food for animals currently in foster care.

Burdekin Christian College later took to Facebook to thank the staff, community members and Burdekin Water Festival Committee members who supported the fundraiser, paying special tribute to Mrs Knight and Amanda for their behind-the-scenes preparation and contributions.

The successful event forms part of the Burdekin Water Festival program, which sees ambassadors host community fundraisers throughout the festival season while developing leadership, teamwork and community engagement skills.
