More than 200 Scouts and adult volunteers gathered at Bluewater last weekend as part of the world’s largest annual digital and radio Scouting event.

‍

The Lower Burdekin Scout Group joined five other groups from Townsville and Charters Towers for the Jamboree on the Air and Jamboree on the Internet (JOTA-JOTI), with 140 youth members and 60 adults taking part in the camp.

‍

Participants used amateur radios and online platforms to communicate with Scouts and other people around the world, alongside a range of activities and games.

Meanwhile, the Lower Burdekin Scout Group is encouraging more locals to get involved, calling on adults aged 18 to 88 to volunteer their time.

Volunteering can involve as little as one hour a month or two hours a week, with no previous Scouting experience required.

‍

The Home Hill group, based behind the swimming pool, meets on Thursday afternoons for children aged five to 10 and Wednesday evenings for those aged 11 to 18.

Young people interested in joining can attend four free trial sessions.

‍

Adults interested in volunteering can contact Group Leader Chris Berkery on 0419 104 035.
