The iconic Tinaroo Barra Bash will return to Lake Tinaroo next month after a two-year hiatus, promising fishing action, family entertainment and a $10,000 cash prize.

The competition will run from 25th–27th September, with anglers and spectators expected from across the region for the first staging of the event since 2023.

‍

Hosted by the Tablelands Fish Stocking Society and backed by Platinum Sponsor Tableland Hardware, the 2026 competition will feature new Live-Scope and Non-Live-Scope divisions, reflecting advances in fishing technology.

‍

But competitors don’t necessarily need to land a barramundi to walk away $10,000 richer.

The returning Lucky Entry prize is open to any adult competition entrant who is present at Sunday’s foreshore draw.

Sunday’s foreshore celebration will kick off at 8.30am, expected to attract more than 1,000 people.

‍

Families can enjoy face painting, arcade games, market stalls, food vendors, Lake Tinaroo cruises, live entertainment, red claw races and live fish displays.

Hodgie the Barefoot Fisherman will also make an appearance, sharing his casting and barramundi-fishing skills before hosting the Kids Casting Competition.

Mr Luscombe said the event’s return would be a celebration of the Tablelands community.

“After two years away, we want to make 2026 a celebration of everything that makes the Tablelands special—fishing, families, businesses and our community,” he said.

“Whether you’re competing on the water or coming along for the Sunday foreshore event, there will be something for everyone.”
