A Burdekin trivia night fundraiser raised nearly $1,500 for the Rotary Club of Home Hill last week, a record high for the annual endeavour.
Hosted by the Club and its Harvest Festival Queen Maddy Gallagher, the event welcomed 94 locals—also a record—to the St Coleman’s Catholic Church hall on Saturday, 25th September, where teams of up to eight put their knowledge to the test across eight rounds of trivia.
The event formed part of Home Hill Rotary’s Harvest Festival fundraising campaign, with a portion of proceeds put towards its $40,000 police ATV mission.
Club members said they were “blown away” by the support on the night, having to make last-minute adjustments to accommodate the flurry of bookings the week of the event.
The club credited Maddy’s efforts in promoting the event as a significant reason for the event’s success.
‘The Real Deal’ walked away eventual trivia winners, taking home six $50 Prawn Stop vouchers donated in half by Melissa Wiles.
Attendees also sported their best eighties-themed attire, with a Men in Black-themed duo taking top honours.
