A morning shower of rain saw Saturday’s cricket action take to the astro wicket where Guardian Pharmacy faced off against Peto’s Marine.
Guardian Pharmacy won the toss and elected to bat with boundaries off the first two bowls getting them off to a flying start and helping opener Mark Coventry to a rapid 25 runs from 15 balls.
Hugh Smith and Damien Ricketts stood tall amongst a middle order collapse with 54 runs not out from 41 balls and 34 runs from 31 balls respectively, guiding Guardian to 188 runs all out from 24.3 overs.
Josiah Ballin and Leo Olditch took three wickets each for Peto’s while Leon Franklin, Jay Leckenby, Ben Walters and Jeff Sullivan all took one.
Peto’s opener Simon Vickers led the run chase finishing on 65 runs from 36 balls while Shaun Goldsworthy contributed with 28 from 32, Leo Olditch with 14 from 17 and Leon Franklin with 11 from 8 not out.
A third three wicket haul for the game went to Andrew Cardillo for Guardian with Matthew Gardner taking two and Joey Southwell, Damien Ricketts, Kane Batchelor, Jamie Grabs and Lee Watts all taking one.
Lee nabbed the prize wicket of Simon Vickers on the last ball of the 24th over, seeing Peto’s fall short on 176 runs all out and guiding Guardian to their second win of the season.
Peto’s Marine will take on Crowned Mongrels this Saturday at Barry Richards Field.
