Peto's Marine won the toss and elected to bowl as they faced Crowned Mongrels on a steamy Saturday afternoon in Home Hill.
Their top order got the Mongrels off to a good start with openers Thomas Sarri and Andrew Wallwork scoring 24 runs from 28 balls and 12 from 17 respectively before first drop Jaidyn Lambie-Fabbro made 26 from 29.
The numbers seven and eight batsmen briefly resurrected the batting side from a middle order collapse with Alex Stillhard making 10 from 12 and Joel Hanson making 15 from 24, but the Peto’s Marine bowlers took the final wicket with one ball to spare.
Simon Vickers led with the ball, taking three wickets for 19 runs while Daniel Olditch took two and Josiah Ballin, Darren O’Keeffe, Ben Walters, Christopher Penna and Greg Flanagan all took one, restricting the Mongrels to 114 runs.
Despite losing an early wicket, Peto’s Marine made short work of their 115 run target, batting through their 25 overs to finish on 2/194.
Opener Ben Walters and number four bat Greg Flanagan both retired not out with half centuries, Ben making 50 from 50 and Greg 51 from 33.
Darren O’Keeffe contributed with 29 from 26, Simon Vickers with 27 from 20 not out and Mark Nosworthy with 15 from 13 not out.
