The Burdekin Roosters are chasing a premiership double this weekend, with both their Under 15 and Under 19 sides charging into grand finals.
The Under 15s booked their spot in emphatic fashion, smashing Charters Towers 44-4 in Saturday’s preliminary final.
Their older teammates had already secured their place in the Under 19 decider with a stirring 28-24 win over Brothers in the major semi-final.
For the Under 19s, Sunday’s clash with Brothers carries extra weight. The Roosters have not appeared in an Under 19 grand final for 25 years, with their last coming in 2001.
There is a strong link between the two generations, with brothers and family members spread across both squads.
The Under 19s have also been pushed hard by Brothers all season, with the Roosters winning two of their three meetings by just two and four points.
Now, with the biggest games of the season looming, the Roosters have a chance to bring two trophies back to Burdekin.
