NIGHT WORKS TO STRENGTHEN BRUCE HIGHWAY

Motorists travelling along the Bruce Highway south of Ayr can expect delays of up to five minutes when pavement strengthening works begin next month.

The Department of Transport and Main Roads will carry out the works between the 70km/h speed sign south of Conlan Street and Kilrie Road from early to mid-November, weather and construction conditions permitting.

‍

Work will take place between 7pm and 6am to minimise disruption to daytime traffic.

Motorists can expect single-lane closures, reduced speed limits and traffic controllers directing vehicles through the work site.

‍

Two-way traffic will be maintained outside construction hours, while access to nearby properties will remain open throughout the works.

Nearby residents may also experience noise and artificial light from trucks and machinery during construction.

‍

TMR said the works would strengthen the road pavement to improve safety, reliability and the road network’s long-term performance.

‍

Motorists are urged to follow road signage and traffic controller directions.
