Friends, family members and supporters filled John Drysdale Chamber as the new Burdekin Shire Council was sworn in at its first post-election meeting on Wednesday, April 3.
Mayor Pierina Dalle Cort led her first meeting as mayor and made a declaration of office before new councillors Amanda Hall, Delfine Vasta and Callan Oar and returning councillors Michael Detenon, Max Musumeci and John Furnell made their declarations.
Ms Hall and Mr Musumeci were both nominated for the position of Deputy Mayor by Ms Dalle Cort and Mr Oar respectively, with Mr Musumeci receiving four votes to three and accepting the position.
Burdekin Shire Council CEO Terry Brennan congratulated all incoming councillors.
Council meetings will continue to be held on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month from 9:00am at John Drysdale Chamber at the Burdekin Shire Council administration building.
