AYR and Home Hill have proven to be the powerhouses of North Queensland golf, with both clubs surging to division titles at the Golf NQ Men’s Pennant championships last weekend.
The annual inter-club competition saw teams from across the region gather at host venues—including Pioneer Valley, Mystic Sands, and Ayr—to battle for division honours across A, B, and C Grades based on player handicaps.
When the final putts dropped, Ayr’s B Grade squad took out top spot in Division 2, while Home Hill claimed victory in C Grade Division 2.
Ayr’s B Grade side produced a standout campaign, finishing ahead of runners-up Bowen to seal the Division 2 title.
Home Hill mirrored that success in C Grade Division 2, holding off Ingham and Collinsville to secure first place.
Home Hill almost doubled its title count in C Grade Division 1, finishing as runners-up behind winners Bowen.
Ayr also picked up top-three finishes across several divisions, including third place in A Grade Division 1 behind champions Sarina and runners-up Mackay, as well as third in C Grade Division 3. Home Hill’s A Grade team rounded out the local placings with third in Division 3.
